RenoFFX is a high school level student film festival & photo contest in Reno, Nevada.
The "X" in FFX represents a variable of an annually changing theme. The theme only applies to the Category X specific Short Film and Photo category. FFX also features contest categories of Short Film (any genre), Experimental Short Film, Music Video, Documentary Short, Animation/Animatic Short Films, PSAs, and a variety of still photography categories.
2027 marks the festival's 16th year.
Each year included a different theme (Category X) ranging from Zombies to Film Noir, Westerns, Silent Film, SciFi, and more.

FFX is open to all Northern Nevada High School students and has been designed to provide a public screening for student work in an atmosphere of independent competition modeled after established Film Festivals all over the world.
Awards include film entries being named Finalists (typically the top 3 in each category), Category Winners, Best Fiction, Best Non-Fiction, Director's Choice, and Best in Show.
Additionally, certain awards may include cash* or practical awards (cameras, camera equipment, gift cards, etc.).
The Film Festival features a public screening of all Finalists (top three in each category) followed by Awards presentations tentatively in May, 2027, location TBD.
The Photo Contest awards will also take place during the Film Screenings and include Finalists, Category Winners, and Best in Show.
*Monetary awards may be in the form of gift cards
